Auto insurance in Hickory, NC, in English and Spanish
Auto insurance is what most of our Catawba County clients come to us for. They choose us for the service and because we explain everything in their language. From our Lincolnton office, about 30 minutes away, we insure drivers in Hickory, Maiden, Newton and Conover: we compare several insurance companies, explain what each policy covers and doesn't, and you decide. All by phone or WhatsApp if you prefer, in English or Spanish.
What's the minimum, and what should you really carry?
North Carolina requires liability insurance on every registered vehicle, with no gaps. Since July 1, 2025, new and renewed policies need at least 50/100/50: $50,000 per person and $100,000 per accident for injuries, and $50,000 for property damage, plus uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
That's the minimum the law allows, not what protects your family. If your car is financed or you couldn't afford to replace it tomorrow, ask about collision (damage from a crash) and comprehensive (theft, hail, a deer on the road). More in our guide to the new minimums.
Coverage people forget to ask about
- Rental reimbursement: a car to drive while yours is in the shop after a claim. Full coverage fixes your car; it doesn't automatically give you another one. See Do I really need rental car insurance?
- Towing and roadside help.
- Every driver in the house: a household driver who isn't listed can become a problem when there's a claim.
- Using your car for work: deliveries, or carrying tools and a crew, can need commercial auto.
Driving around Hickory
Between I-40 and US 321, Hickory-area drivers rack up highway miles, and the back roads toward Maiden, Newton and Claremont bring their own risks, like deer at dusk. That's why we ask how you drive before we quote: daily commute, who drives which car, and whether a car is used for work. Comprehensive coverage is what pays when a deer hits your car; liability alone doesn't.
